cloudy film
hey guys,
what the cloudy film layer at the top of my water? i have a protein skimmer but is there something else i can use to clear it up? the whole tank is very clear, just the surface of the water has a film. Thanks guys |

do you have a surface skimming overflow? you need something to skim off the top of the water.

Float a few paper towels of a piece of newspaper on top and it will soak it up. Sounds like you need more surface agitation and/or skimming. Point a return or power head at the surface and it should keep it in suspension and remove it.

no i dont.....dont have a sump yet...planning on it, just not yet

Direct a power head at the surface so it is acutually churning. With out adequate surface movement that filmy area has a tendancy to develop. That area is very important for gas exchange besides in your skimmer and sump
