LIME stone - or no LIMEstone

I keep hearing local pet stores tell me DONT use limestone in my sump..... and then I've got a buddy telling me use 37 year old limestone... to help raise and maintain Kal ----

whats your thoughts ??

Limestone is fine in a tank. It won't do anything unless the pH drops to 7.8 or lower. You can get limestone based base rock from vendors. It will be fine. Now, I don't see a point of adding limestone to a sump though. What are you trying to accomplish?
