Did i Kill my Xenia?

One of my frogspawn corals fell onto a patch of xenia and now in that area they are all retracted. Will they recover?

My Xenia fell over and landed upside down one night, and I didn't find them til the next morning. Set them back up and they were looking just fine 24 hrs. later. They are pretty tough.

If I were you I'd be praying that it didn't recover! Sorry but Xenia has turned into a nightmare in my tank. I would recommend some other coral honestly. It's like a weed and my LFS's don't even want to take it back from me.

They'll be fine... it will take more than a fall to kill them

I personally have to find the right species of xenia to be attracted to them. I like the ones with very short stalks - they don't seem to multiply as rapidly. But I've never had a problem of xenia taking my tank over... I guess I am too quick for them

My xenia has been through hell.

Fell off a few times while cleaning as well as blown off the rock work once and was found a few hours later.

The worst was 3 days after I got it, my emerald crab decided it was a tasty snack. He turned a 4in tall xenia into a 1inch stump. When I found him in the morning, it was small enough he was yanking it off the rock and preparing to make a run for it. He nearly cut the stump in half in the process. It was back open a few hours later. A few weeks later it was back almost to full size again.

I would not worry about a fall, it will be fine.
My emerald on the other hand my not be in the near future, what a pain in the...

Xenia are pretty much unkillable without using really hot water or chemicals. I was splitting my xenia once and rubberbanded three smalls chunks onto little rocks. 2 out of 3 of them got off. One of the two that got off got each little pulsing arm cut off so it split again into 4 or 5 little arms. After a week, they started latching onto the rockwork and growing. Now I have little xenia's all over the place.

Not to beat the proverbial horse but Xenias are very hardy. I've dropped mine left it upside down for two days before i noticed it and even smothered another clump that had spread from the original. They're both doing fine; pulsing a way! No worries on yours.
