in what order did you place things on the bottom of your tank when you were first setting it up?

placing the rock before sand allows the base to be solid such that the foundation will not shift if the sand gets dug by stars or any sand moving fish.

I put my sand down then dug my base rock (tufa rock) deep into it. I worried about the weight of the rocks above pressing straight down on the glass as i have a 'floating base' But i think i was too caucious!

Like the old Biblical saying, build your foundation on sand and it can be washed away. Build your foundation on solid rock instead. |
