QT questions...
Ok, so i am new to marine fish and i'll be adding fish to my tank this week. It is fully cycled and i have a clean up crew ect. Should i quarantine the first fish added? the second fish?
I dont have a QT set up and dont have a lot of money to set up another tank. Can people me what their QT setup is? Could i get by with out one? I guess im a little confused about the whole QT thing. |

You should quarantine any new fish you add. Just buy a 10, 15, or 20G tank and leave it with nothing but maybe a little power filter and some PVC fittings (for the fish to hide in).

before you pick up your first fish, set up a QT tank. it does not need to be fancy, a simple 10-20 gallon tank will do. a small hob filter and a little powerhead will do nicely along with an appropriately sized heater. PVC elbows like Chiblis suggested are great for hiding spots for your new fish.
frequent waterchanges are essential if you are not going to cycle the filter for the QT tank, and many people use water from their display to fill the QT. here's some reading on the subject http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...85#post8443385
