Is GFCI toast?

GFCI tripped last night while I was messing around. This is the 3rd or 4th time it has tripped. Never on its own, fortunately, but always due to my intervention. So, now it doesn't reset... is it toast? Do they only have a certain number of overloads they can handle?

It's one of the 'inline' GFCI on extension cord... something like this one here...
