Relay needed for airlifter autotopoff?

do i need to wire up a relay if I use an aqua airlifter as my pump for a diy auto top off system with two float switches. I heard they dont spike the switches as much.

yes, you need a relay. i've seen a friend's tank flood after just a few months from not using a relay on an aqualifter.
