My Gorilla crab
Ok so this probably isn’t the norm, but I have made friends with my Gorilla crab. I noticed him several months ago and was just amazed at how big this think got. I tried several times to catch him and even took all the live rock out and he still evaded capture. So I just resigned myself that he was going to be part of the system. After all it’s not his fault he’s in there. I had 2 Hugh crabs, but one died of natural causes I guess. It was all intact and nothing was missing. SO I assumed he died of natural cause.
I now feed the other shrimp ever other day when I feed my BTA. I feed him first so he doesn’t still the BTA’s meal. He gladly takes it from my hand and then scurries off to enjoy his meal. I know I could catch him now that he takes it from my hand, but I don’t have the heart. I figure every other day will keep his mind off the snails and the fish. I have not seen him go after any fish just snails, not to say he won’t, but if he has a square meal coming I think I will be ok. The other fish I have are 3 Blue green Chromis, 1 Yellow Tang, and 2 Clarkii Clowns who host the BTA. I did have a six line wrasse, but he got caught in a filter sock and I didn’t realize till it was too late. |
