Question Please ID My Red Mystery Macro!

I picked this branching red macro up at a local LFS because it looked cool and because it was very inexpensive. It was in a jellyfish tank along with some other macros. The LFS doesn't know what it is, and I've found only one photo of it online, but they didn't know what it is, either.

I'll try to get a sharper photo of it soon. It's thicker and stubbier than gracilaria, and it has a somewhat rubbery texture. It seems different from the Caulacanthus ustulatus alga on Melev's ID page, both in terms of appearance and strength. It doesn't seem to be invasive, as the LFS employee just picked it right out of the substrate.

It's in my QT for now because a) it's unidentified and b) it has some white spots, white branches that look like they may be somehow diseased, and a few hitchhikers that I want to clear off.

So...anyone want to take a stab? What is it? Is it reef-safe?

Thanks!

Scinaia sp. Family Chaetangiaceae, may be S. complanata.

Thanks, loosecannon! I think you may be right. I just posted to an old S. complanata thread I found. Hopefully I can get some more information there.
