An RO/DI system will fill a storage container with RO/DI water. You could pipe it directly to your sump, but most people recommend against this since you could affect the specific gravity of your tank that way if left uncontrolled.
Your best bet is to call one of the site sponsors, such as The Filter Guys or Buckeye Field Supply, and talk to them. They will hook you up. As for the Gallons per Day question, it really depends on your tank size. If you have a 300g tank, a 25gpd RO unit will take 12 days to fill it. A typical size unit will be in the 50-75gpd size. Most people will also not recommend you skimp on this since it can cause some nasty algae issues down the road (which I am currently fighting). Good Luck and HTH.
