how deep of a tank would you put a 70 watt mh over?

12 inch at the most, i ran a 70 watt over a 10 gallon aga and a 20 long aga, it was perfect for the 10 for the 20 long to get light to the sides of the tank the light would have to be too high off the surface to be as effective as you would want a mh light to be..
