Aqua-C EV1000 skimmer setup problems???
So I picked uped a EV-1000 about a month ago. I put it in using my Blueline HD55 pump. This was not big enough. So about two months ago I upgrade to a Reefflo Sequence 4200.
My problem is I can not get a steady production of foam through the reaction chamber or or riser tube. It seem to do best with both air valves open all the way. I also have a breather on my drian line, as per Aqua-C service. The bubbles also seem to start out small 1-2mm they towards the top large like boiling water. My questions are does anyone have a similar setup? What type of setting do you use for water level, and for air valves? Any help would be great. Thanks Tim

I've used AquaC skimmers before, not the 1000 though, with many pumps and from the pump you are using it will not be strong enough. The 4200 has very very little max pressure (12ft) which will be terrible to power and create foam with the injector. You should be probably looking at something like a Sequence Uno Marlin, Blueline 100HD or Iwaki 100 RLT, which have considerable more pressure (~40ft). HTH

I run an Ev-240, like gabe3d stated these skimmers require a pump that will produce backpressure. I now run my 240 with a mag 18 to get the desired results. Great skimmers but not energy friendly.

I only have about 3' of rise on my outlet side of the pump so very little head pressure. I wonder if maybe closing the ball valve on it will help add some back pressure.
I also posted this in Aqua-C fourm. Thansk for the input guys!

The problem is not the amount of height the water needs to travel from the pump to the skimmer, but the backpressure the AquaC injector adds. If you ever unscrew the injector out for cleaning, you'll notice that the output area is significantly smaller than the input. This will drastically reduce the flow of a pump like the sequence 4200, making it not pull the air required to make it function properly.
