cheap ph probes vs lab grade ph probes

i have a RK2 with a standard probe and i think its not giving me a correct reading, i was looking thru a website and found 2 types of probes, one standard and one lab grade, so whats the diference with the two, besides the price, would i get a better reading thru the lab grade???

sana

I believe the lab grade would have tighter tolerances but they all need to be calibrated from time to time. what are you testing? and do you have a different test method?

AFAIK, the lab grade probes give higher precision. Provided your probe is calibrated properly, it should be fairly accurate. Do you have samples to test against?

test kits for your meters are a must. Especially if your prone to dropping things I calibrate monthly or if I drop it.

Lab grade surely gives a more precise if not neccesarily more acurate reading. ie 7.65 instead of 7.7 for example. I would have thought that standard probes/meters would be the best choice economically as long as you callibrate. You dont need it that detailed for fishkeeping
