Suggestions for new Sump/Fuge for 90 gallon.
I was an idiot when I bought my stand and got one with compartments that can't accomodate an adequately sized sump/fuge (i know, i know....too late now). At the time I was dead set on keeping all the gear out of sight, but now I'm considering a new setup with an external sump/fuge with enough aesthetic appeal to be sitting along the wall outside the tank.
The Ecosystem Sump/Fuges are the only thing I've seen so far that look halfway decent and I would like to avoid any DIY frankenstien refinery looking things (don't want to hear about it from the wife). Does anyone have suggestions for other companies/products that make nice looking sump/fuges? One that includes a light, decent return pump, and skimmer would be great. Thanks.... |

Even the best looking sumps look pretty shotty after awhile. Coraline algae, salt creeping, bowing of the acrylice and the smell.

I would consider buying a new stand that you can enjoy for next few year.

Buying a new stand would mean emptying and breaking down the entire tank to put a new stand underneath it. And then I'd still need to buy a new sump, so the question still remains....

How bad is the stand? Can it be modified?

I cut a larger opening in my stand. Big enough to fit a 40 gallon sump under my 125. You just have to plan ahead and brace things as you go.

I've considered that, but it would involve cutting away large sections of the vertical supports so I'm not too keen on it.
