Sick tank
Guys, i have a problem.
Have a 30g M-tank Nano, over a year old all params are fine. first hippo got some ick, it comes and goes for a about a month, maybe a bit longer. then 3 other fish died, i didnt notice any ick on the other fish. two days ago i noticed white spots on the clown fish, not the same as on the hippo, more like powder looking but white. Today he died. Whats wrong? What should I do? |

Ick could be induced by stress of the fish. Are there any fish in there now. If not I would leave it fishless for 30 (I think) Once the ick fry hatch they need to find a host in 24 hrs. If not they die.You could also get a UV sterilizer.

Try catching him and giving him a freshwater dip. I would say lower salinty but corals and inverts wouldnt like that to much.

Ok first let me tell you that the TANG 5-0 is coming. Many people will tell you that the tang is too small to keep in a 30 gallon, even if he is small. That tang will grow quickly. the other thing i noticed is that you said you had 4 other fish in the tank with it. With that many fish its possible that the fish could be getting stressed out. When a fish gets stressed out its harder for it to fight off ich. What were the 3 fish that died??
I would take it easy on the fish get a qt tank and do hyposalinity.Don't waste your time with the junk they try to sell you for ich. And get some cleaner shrimp instead of fish now. Good Luck

Kent Garlic Xtreme is a good item to use, you can soak the food in it or put a drop into the tank.
