water evaporation

My wife feeds and is suposed to keep eye on tank for me while I'm on road . I asked her if she had been adding water to my 25 gal set up and she said yes . Came home and water was down about 1/2 gal . i keep my SPG at 1.025 it was 1.028 is this a real problem can't seem to get her to top it off correctly. Would like to add a way she could see easily where water line should be. It would be nice to have a plastic marker that would change color when salt water touched it.

Look into getting a auto top of. It'll make life a lot easier.

failing an automatic system, what about a piece of masking tape on the outside glass? mark the water level that way.

masking tape would work but I keep water above black plastic around top of glass. I will come up with something.
