For future reference (and if they start itching shortly) it is vinegar that will disolve the spines. Good luck!

GOOD LUCK! If yours turn out anything like mine, get ready for the following:

1. You get the bristles out (cool)
2. About 1 or 2 days later your fingers start to itch like crazy!
3. Your skin starts to "blister" (not painful just ugly)
4. MORE ITCHING!
5. Laugh at yourself for not wearing gloves and grow skin back

Nothing bad, just really annoying!

Well, UNFORTUNATELY, I didn't get the vinegar advice until it was too late for me...

I think as long as you do it right afterward and "melt" the spines, you should be better off. I waited too long and the skin seemed to grow back over the bristles which (I think) caused the blisters from the spines working their way back out.

You'll be OK, just itchy if they didn't all get out.
