fish and lights

can my 90 gallon tank be alright if i dont turn the lights on for 10 to 16 hours. the reason i say this is because where i live the damn light goes ,and comes back on .sometimes in 15 minutes and like yesterday 16 hours.so they get no light ,im supplying them with oxygen with a battery pump and was curious its a fowlr tank thanks .

If it's fish only that you have, then it's all right. If it's coral it could become problematic if they don't get a sufficient amount of light. What's in your tank, baldomero?

Honestly you dont have to have any light fdo rthe tank since its a fowlr. You wont hurt anything but some coralline growth.

The tank will be absolutely fine, don't worry. Even a full-blown reef is fine without light for up to 3-4 days -- sometimes serious algae issues are dealt with by turning all lights off for three days, actinics only for the fourth, and then the regular lighting schedule is resumed on day 5. I've done this, and had no issues with fish, corals or inverts.

If losing power is a regular thing where you live you might want to consider a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) or a generator - they're not cheap, but then again neither are our fish/inverts!
