Midwest Ice Storms
With all of the ice storms this past week and lots of downed
power lines it made me think - what if the power goes out for an extended period of time. Just wondering what contingency plans folks have and what, if any battery backups do you all recommend? Thanks! |

I would have a generator handy for sure. We have been w/o power since Mon at 3am. We have a 6500 Coleman generator and we have been running 3 furnaces (2 neighbors and ours), my tank pump and heater. We put all the food outside in ice chests. I know my tank would have pretty much been a goner w/o the heat, since I do have battery operated air pumps too. If you have bad weather coming I would get prepared asap, I should have been better prepared. Just a fyi a battery backup is only good for a short time running a heater.
