Tomini tang ???

Anyone out there have one of these also called a bristletooth at some LFS'S.Thinking of adding one to my 2 month old 75 gallon.All I have right now are a small 6-line and a medium skunk clown.Have about 90 lbs of tonge lr and couple of sps,lps.Starting to get a hair aldae outbreak.What do you think? thanks for any replies and suggestions or stories.

got two in display tanks at the store i work at. a little one in the 58 and a full size one in one of the 180s. very personable fish. id definitly recommend one

Hello,

I am always stunning how many tangs and in how small tanks you guys on the other side of the atlantic are keeping them.
I would never put any tang or foxface in a tank smaller than at least 90 or even 120g (you should see them swimming in a larger tank or in free nature). Well you get the young ones in very small sizes which seem to fit in a small tank on the first look - but they rapidly outgrow all these smaller tanks.

There are such a lot of other beautifull fish perfectly fitting smaller tanks... (but yes tangs are interesting and beautiful fish as well)

I agree, a Tomini will get nasty in a 75g eventually... they arent the nicest of fish. I would rate them just as bad as Red Sea Purples, if not worse in some respects.

That being said, only the yellow, red sea purple, scopas, and maybe a couple others stay small enough for a 75g.

Now I'm confused. It seems like such a contridiction.

Well, Red Seas have a 'reputation' that you can work with at least. If they are the last tang in, or you dont combine them with other Zebrasoma, they tend to be just fine. IF you put them in first, or with other Zebrasoma... thats when it all hits the fan. So with a RSPT, its 'workable', depending on how you do it.

A Tomini just needs robust tankmates no matter what, no matter what the species of type of fish I'd say. Bristletooths arent the nicest fish... with the possible exception being the Kole, if any.
