Expired halides.

What are the effects of letting halides run longer than 9 months. Will corals/clams die from this or will it just stunt their growth. Just wondering.. I am at the 9 month mark this week.

supposedly growth will suffer and algae will benefit from the change in the spectrum of light. However, I know some guys, with amazing tanks, that will leave them in until they blow.

Personally I think I can see a difference so I try to change every 9-10months for MH's and about 18mos for T5's.

I thought I read an article that talked about aging of bulbs. Basically it said that by the time the 9 month time comes around they are as bad as they get. So if you have not noticed any problems they should not change much more than they already have.

I just wish I could find the article again.
