Unhappy shocking heater im getting fed up

I have had two titanium heaters one a pro heat 2 and I cant remember the other (something heater 3000) but they both were releasing electric current into the water. Yeah it hurts pretty bad when you put your hand in I know that sounds stupid. I have tried other types of heaters none of them will heat with efficiency of the titanium heaters. So is this normal or is there a heater out there that wont shock me or my fish.

Usually it is a crack in the heater coil from being dropped or plugged in while out of the water. I would just toss them and use Visi-Therm Stealth Heater!!!

i also use a visi-therm stealth and my total water volume is around 180 gallons and the temp doesnt fluctuate to much usualy around 3/4 to 1 degree, i also was getting shocked by a pump for my skimmer and lost 2 fish to LLD lateral line disease AKA "hole in head disease" i also strongly recomend a stealth heater

I run 2 of the 250's i think thats the highest watt they make for the stealth's, but when i first set up my tank (a 90) and a 55 gallon fuge i only had 1 heater going, but when i added in my 30 gallon fuge and TidePool II i added another heater just in case, but had no issues with running just 1 with 140 gallons

The Eheim Jager heaters can be calibrated and contains an LED indicator. The Stealth cannot be calibrated. Lacking an LED, you cannot even tell if the Stealth is working.

the only thing i dont like about the jagers is that they are not fully submersable, and what do you mean by cannot be calibrated?

To prevent stray voltages, I use a GFCI outlet. I also have a titanium grounding probe but have not used it.

Per Eheim's Jager webpage (http://www.eheim.com/jager.htm), the Jager heaters are now certified to be fully submersible.

The Jager heaters can be calibrated by prying up the blue button to adjust the temperature selector disk. The complete instructions are here: http://www.boroniaaquarium.com.au/ne...514e6d836edb6f
