What's the Thickness of Your Sand Bed?

I'm adding more fine grade aragonite sand to my 29 gallon.

It was at about 2 inches before and I added roughly another inch of sandbed.

Just curious to know what your sand bed is at height-wise?

3-4 inches in my tank, depending on where you look; and 3" in my fuge. You don't want it TOO deep, because it will develop dead spots. Your 3 should be fine and improve your natural filtration.

1-5" in the display depending on where ya look (thanks engineer goby and jawfish, I really appreciate that!) I prefer to have a 4" sandbed and that's what i started with.

If you ran this as a poll I think you will find even answers across the board. Every one seems to have a different amount of sand from 0 to 8 inches.

What size aragonite is it? If you purchased one from one of the bigger brands then the manufacturer's website will tell you about what it is. If it is really small you don't want to go too deep because you'll have lots of nutrients getting stuck down the bottom. If it is large like crush coral that is a different story. "Fine" aragonite can be defined differently by many different people.
