Aluminum CO2 bottle can i use a paintball style

i have read that there is a oil in the paintball style bottle that helps lubircate the gun

I think there is a purity issue, but I also seem to recall that there is a physical constraint as well.

Yes. People use them all the time. I worked at a paintball store for a few years, and have taken apart my fair share of bottles. There is no oil in the co2 or bottle. It would save a lot of gun problems if there were.The only thing is the size. The larges I have seen is a 44oz.

Some have an anti siphon hose on the inside so the gun doesn't receive any liquid co2. So make sure to get one you can stand on end, or rig something up so it stands vertical.

Don't use paintball cylinders. You're probably right about the lubricant, but there is another thing: cost.

Paintball cylinders don't use CGA320 fittings and require a special regulator (Red Sea has one, around ~$150) Not to mention a refill for a 20oz vs. a 10lb. cylinder are about the same cost..
