any experience with ASM Mini-G?

I just bought a used one as a back up for my Tunze Nano which has had some pump issues. I am going to install it tomorrow but it means re-doing my sump. I have the option of taking it back to the store within 2 weeks for credit if it doesn't work out.

Any stories to tell; good or bad.

Thanks - Laurie

it will work well with a gate valve mod and possibly a mesh mod for the impeller....

Why does it need those mods? I have it in the sump of my moderately stocked 30 cube - it JUST fits. Tons of bubbles and its starting to push some foam. What would the mods do and how would I do them?

Thanks - Laurie

the gate valve will help you fine tune the water level in the skimmer.....mesh modding the impeller will result in finer bubbles.....but since you have it running at the moment....give it time to break in (2-3weeks) and see how it does first.

look for asm skimmer mods on this forum and see what it can do.

I had one on my 70g it pulled thick brown skimmate, the cup would be full in about three days. I kept it stock and it worked great, no reason to mod it unless you are into that sort of thing.

I am also running a stock mini on my 46 reef, and I am very happy with it. I was thinking of doing a gate valve, but the water level is easy to control with th stock riser tube.
