Halogen Vs. Metal Halide

Halogen Vs. Metal Halide


whats the difference in a 250 watt halogen bulb and a 250 watt metal halide bulb??
Halogen any good for corals?

The spectrum of a halogen is only going to range from about 3000K to about 5000K at best. Halogens boast an efficiency only slightly better than a regular filament bulb... about 20 lumens/watt was the best I have seen... where a halide can easily be in the 90-100lumen per watt range. So long story short, a halide puts out about 4-5x the light per watt compared to halogen.
