Blue Band Goby and Crushed Coral

Saw one of these at my LFS and wondered if it would be OK with crushed coral substrate?

You mean a Catalina Goby? Small guys with orange red body and blue stripes?

If so, gravel isn't a concern as much as temperature. Those guys won't live for more than a few months at temps over 70 degrees. Go swimming in the ocean off Catalina Island near Los Angeles and you'll understand what kind of water they come from. It's chilly.

Sorry got the name wrong, I meant Yellowheaded sleeper as in the below image.

they say they like small substrate the cc is to big to filter throught their gills.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone have any good recommendations ofr any cc sifters?

The sleeper gobies definitely need very fine sand. I remember reading Enginner Gobies were used for "sifting" in early berlin style tanks with crushed coral bottoms.

umm well they dont realy sift cc but pearly jawfish like it to build burrows. Google video jawfish they are realy interesting to watch. Maybe a cool fish to stock. You also might get away with mixing in some fine sand with the cc for sand sifters.
