I have read a few post about people who have used garlic and swear by it. All my tanks are full(one of my 20s has no sand or L/R in it but Im QTing a achillies right now) so I figured I would give it a go. I know Im gonna hear it, but Im kinda stuck. Is there any little (garlic) tricks that you know of from experience?

You haven't said in your posts what the problem is. Do you have an ich outbreak or something?

Garlic helps a fish to eat. Nothing more. Yes if the fish is fighting dieses food will help it keep its stength. If a fish isn't eating garlic will 9/10 times make the fish go mental for the food.

To use the garlic extract, get a shot glass, put some food and tank water in it and a few drops of garlic extract in it. Let it sit for 2-3mins and then feed the food to the fish.

Spike(One of my kids names...Butch Rocko Spike), Anyway I have a outbreak in my main, but my fish are HUGE, so I was hopeing that garlic would do the trick. All my other tanks are full, so I wanted to try this garlic thing before I go buy another 55 and turn it into a QT tank. ........Jamie, First I will fill the the SHOT glass with a little DR.M (Twice) Then do it again,LOL. I just have no room, loking for little help from the FISH GODS! Been doseing the with the garlic for two days ,no results. IM gonna have to get ANOTHER 55 and make a quick hospital tank. Have you ever tried the garlic thing?

Garlic will not cure ich in my opinion.Sometimes fish can survive it and good nutrition helps which may be where garlic comes in. The manufactured poducts such as Garlic Guard and Garlic Extreme use a concentrate preserved with citric acid. The immuno boosting agent in garlic at least for humans is allicin which is only active for about an hour after the garlic is pressed. So it is very diffficult to believe that even if the fish take up the preserved extract that it will have any immuno boosting properties.

No as I said myself garlic will not cure ick! If I was you I'd get another 55 - even if you could borrow one from another reefer and then treat with copper. You will have to QT for 4weeks *citation needed* till all the ick in your main dies off. Somebody correct me if im wrong that ick takes 4weeks without fish to die out completly!

Most cysts will usually turn into the free simming parasite in search of a host within the 4 weeks noted but they have been shown to remain viable and "unhatched for as long as 72days.

Things look a little better this morning, cyst must have fallen off, and are regrouping! I will continue treating with the garlic, and in the meantime find a used 55 fill it with my water change water, HOB aquaclear from one of my other tanks, couple of power heads, just in case things get worse.......My Fish and Myself Thank You Very Much!
