Water changes should be adequate. Don't get suckered in by fancy bottles and clever advertising.

Be very careful with Strontium in a mixed tank. Best not to mess with it. Your water changes should replace what ever is needed.

I know from experience that my zoas dont like it. I once dosed it when I heard that it was good for SPS. I almost lost all my zoas. I stopped the Strontium, did water changes and the zoas rebounded. It was a closed call. The full bottle is now in a landfill somewhere.

Could you have dosed WAY to much Strontium to cause that kind of reaction? I have a number of different zoas and palys including armageddons, armor of god, mohawk, and a number of other various zoas and palys. I have dosed the recommended dosage of Kent strontium and never had them react negatively.

Only dose them if you are testing for them before and after doing so.

I would just use water changes for these. I would dose potassium, which most brands of salt are low in compared to natural sea water.

If you like hair algae, dose it. Otherwise if you use a decent salt mix regular water changes should be suffice.

Agreed. Don't dose what you don't test for.
