skimmer quits skimming when sock gets dirty.

Anyone else have this happen, when their filter sock starts getting dirty, after a couple of days, the skimmer cant produce a head?

Then minute I change mine out it starts skimming again.

What would cause this?

I think maybe the sock is catching the kent zoe and slowly releasing it, and skimmers wont skim with that in the water. I'm gonna just feed them flake tonight and see what happens.
