ebo jager heaters... what's the deal?

Are they fully submersible or not? Some places I read the new ones were.. now sites say the new ones are not?

I have three all are fully submersed and working...

Grrr.. I'm about ready to go back to my old visi-therms..

Any thoughts on the jagers??

No. You need to keep the top couple of inches (plastic piece around the glass with the temp setting dial) out of the water.

Back when I bought them websites were saying you could fully submerge them... that's really frustrating. I'm going to check to see if mine have a waterline.

If this is the case, have I ruined the heaters by having them fully submerged?

No, if they're working, they're not ruined. Do you have them in a sump? Just angle them so the top portion is above the water line.

Marine Depot told me yesterday that for a UL listing they can not be submisble, but the manifacturer has them sealed, it is all about UL listining, I have one that went under the water line in my mixing tank, no problem!!!!!

No, I have one in a QT tank, one in a mixing tank, and one in the back compartment of a tank... all under the water!

they just dont have the permit allowing them to say they are submersible. they are sealed, and can be fully submersed.

I use 4, all submersed, with no problems. As stated, they are sealed and can be submersed.

They meet all EC standards for submersible heaters.

When Eheim bought them, they had to resubmit UL or something like that and cant say they are submersible until then. These heaters have always been submersible.
