Tunze 9002

I been looking at a tunze 9002 to place in my 46 gallon bow front. I see that it might be to small, but was hoping to hear from someone about this unit. Like I said I have a 46 bow front, some softies, clown, blue hippo tang, and was thinking about a pigmy angle. I have looked at the hob octopus, and from allot of the reviews it looks good, but some are talking about how noisy it is. The Bak Pak I have is noisy, and thats why its got to go.

Tunze makes many great products, but skimmers are not their forte.

There are many other skimmers that are better built, and more efficient than Tunze.

Thanks. As far a HOB skimmers, they all seem to have thier problems, cost, noise etc. I really would like a quiet skimmer and thought the tunze would be the one. Any suggestions on a quiet skimmer?

Tunze says their skimmer is good for up to 52gal with softies....i just got one for my 55 FOWLR (has like 48gal water volumer) and they told me i should be fine.

my 0.02

tunze does make quite/energy efficient stuff. mine isnt installed yet.....will be this week tho.

Thanks. The bak pak I have has a pre skimmer box, that works well, that might be the only problem I'll have if I use a teunze, surface scum

I would reccomend Deltec Pricy but you always get what you pay for

Take a look at the bermuda rogue, I hear it is the best hot skimmer around. **********.com carries them

Skimmers are not Tunze's forte? Norbert Tunze developed and released the first commercial protein skimmers in the 60s. They are well made and every part is replaceable. They require very little adjustment after set-up and are a snap to clean. I have owned and used a lot of skimmers over the years and the Tunze DOCs are truly plug and play. Yes there are more powerful skimmers available if you have a large system, but for a 46 a 9005 or a 9010 mounted internally with a magnet would be an easy solution.

Tunze skimmers are excellent. I run the 9015 and it is great.

Fliger what model of tunze are you running, tank size and do you have a problem with surface scum?

I don't have any surface skimming, just a chaotic surface with my Tunze 6055s. No film.
