Issue with two little fishies phos reactor
I've got a two little fishies ractor running phosban in my sump fed by a MJ-400. My problem is the pump is sucking in algae (even with a filter screen on it) and the algae gets caked onto the bottom spunge inside the reactor and then eventually the water presure pushes the spunge up the reactor until the media is compressed against the other spunge.
This happens over about a 2 week period and I'm wasteing a lot of media. The reactor is running in the return section of the sump. Any thoughts?

I think you need to evaluate why/how you are getting so much algae in the return section and solve that rather than find a means to stop the pump from succking it up into the reactor. Are you using the return section for another purpose (e.g. fuge with light)? A return section with no light should really not have any chance to grow algae.

I have a 55g tank with skimmer section on the left, return in the center and fuge on the right. I don't have algae growth inside my return section.

You could put a sponge over the intake. Should rinse it out weekly to help prevent nitrates coming from it.

Sure thing.
I use them for my reactors on my 58 and 75. Not enough room in my sump on the 29, so I don't use it there.

Cool. Ordered 2 of the 2 packs so I can replace them on the fly and give the old ones a good cleaning. Also ordered some replacement media.
They had a really good price, another vendor I checked had them listed for $10.95 for a single 2 pack.
