2 cups of water a day is that okl

Ok I am still earnign and after a fun week of playing with my sump I have it working out ok. Except teh gargling( and for those who gave me advise thank you but after pseaking to durso the standpipe is only for drilled tanks)
anyway I have only fish right now with my live rock and I notice every day I add 2 cups of water to my sump My main tank level I am told stays the same (hope that is true) I have th e6500k light on from home depot 24/7 for my sump is that why I am losing the water?

also I do not add salt as I was tld not too is this also ok?

Thanks again

Water evaporates. It will happen wether your lights are on or not. Salt does not evaportate so please add only RO water for top-off.

Get your self an auto top off and it will make your life much easier.

2 cups isn't nothing on a 75g, consider yourself lucky. Mine will go through a couple cups a couple times a day. Evap will always occur and it's not a bad thing, just annoying sometimes. As long as water parameters and temperature are where they need to be than don't worry about the amount of evaporation, just keep it topped off properly.

just installed a DIY auto top off kit this weekend (from premium aquatics), so glad I did this and wish I would have a long time ago, lol. Didn't have to top off my tank all day yesterday, that was a first.

Thats not true at all, you can make one to fit in your HOB overflow. You can also try this one http://home.everestkc.net/jrobertson...struction.html

Oh and I would be worried if my 75g only lost a couple cups a day. I loose better then a gallon a day.

my 75g with 29g sump evaporates a little over a gallon a day.

Dubbin1, I had family that graduated from the University of Findlay. I had some fun times out there

I go through about 2 gallons a day in my 125 DT and 60 gallon sump, a dehumidifier is a great investment.

Love this little item.. I built two of the gurgle busters for my dual 75g system and they both work excellent. Much quieter than anything else I've tried, and only cost me a few bucks to make em both.

There is no need to spend the extra money when you can get one of these for half the price. A few people in my club and I run these with excellent results.
