RODI adapter help and MH/PC question..
Hi,
I am a newbie and i recently got a RODI unit...the only problem is that my adapter leaks all the time...went to home depot about 10000 times...they suggested ideas but they didn't work...now i would like to ask you what i should do...when i also hook up to my facet adapter it leaks just as much as hooking it up to a garden hose adapter please help... I tried a washer in it as well as Teflon tape... My second question is ...how long should i run MH on my tank...i have heard 6 hours then switch to PC lighting....Is that true..i have a retro fit in my tank of PC what should i do for a light schedule... Thanks for taking the time to read this |

We need a better description of the leak? have you tried a new adapter?
You'll want to add the MH lights slowly so you don't bleach or burn anything not used to higher intensity lights. Have them on for an hour a ,then after a week up it to two hours a day etc... A lot of people have Actinic and/or Blue PC bulbs that are on for 10 to 12 hrs and then have the MH on 6 to 10. So the PCs turn on then an hour or two later the MH. Then reverse it MH off first then an hour or two later PC off. |

If it has a John Guest type quick fitting where the 1/4" tubing inserts into it, try removing the tube, cut the end squarely, make sure it is perfrctly round and not egge shaped or flattened and reinsert it making sure it is in all the way. That should work but Coralife uses some pretty shabby quality components sometimes and you may need to replace it.

Thats a pretty poor quaity fitting. Look at something like the third one down on this page. Only one quick push in connection so less chance of leaks.

Your old one is a compression fitting. You can either unscrew the nut where the tubing enters the fitting and pull it out or just cut it off if you have plenty of tubing.
