curing live rock

is it a bad idea to cure dry rock in a DT?

I have nothing in the display tank except for sand.

In my fuge i have a small piece of live rock, some live sand, and some macro algae.

Should I just cure the rock in a trash can with saltwater, then move it to my DT later?

what are your guys thoughts?

my current plan: just put it in my DT, cycle, and do water changes.

If rock is dry and void of life then its just base rock.I would rinse real well and add to the tank.

nice,
with my last tank i bought live rock, and although it looked great, had tons of hitch hikers that were awesome cycled the tank quickly etc... in the end I had wished I'd just cured it my self. To avoid all the pests.

If its dry rock, theres really no curing to be done. You can place it in the tank so that it can begin to become "live".
