curing live rock
is it a bad idea to cure dry rock in a DT?
I have nothing in the display tank except for sand. In my fuge i have a small piece of live rock, some live sand, and some macro algae. Should I just cure the rock in a trash can with saltwater, then move it to my DT later? what are your guys thoughts? my current plan: just put it in my DT, cycle, and do water changes. |

If rock is dry and void of life then its just base rock.I would rinse real well and add to the tank.

nice,
with my last tank i bought live rock, and although it looked great, had tons of hitch hikers that were awesome cycled the tank quickly etc... in the end I had wished I'd just cured it my self. To avoid all the pests. |

If its dry rock, theres really no curing to be done. You can place it in the tank so that it can begin to become "live".
