power heads

I have a 55 gallon tank. I have live rock. how many gph should i use.

How much gph do i need for the live rock and fish.

If your just keeping fish and live rock I would target a powerhead to do 10-20X per hour turnover in your tank.

really none if it is a FOWLR, you need more circulation if you have corals, not that it would hurt, but if your return pump is doing a 5-10 times turnover rate on flow for fish only you are fine.

Not true.

If its a fish only tank you want to keep the waste suspended so that it can be processed by the HOB skimmer or up and over the overflowbox to the sump.

I would have a little higher flow, to prevent algae buildups. Algae does not like high flow.

i have a 295 gph now and another 295 gph on the way is that enough? Thanks

It sounds fine. If you start to have high nutrient issues, I would eventually increase flow more than that.
