Are you sure it just didn't molt?

that's what we thought it might have been but kevin fished him out with his bare hands and mushed him (gross). said it was more than just an empty shell.

Tough call with inverts:

Old age?
High nitrates?
Trouble molting?

I noticed that I had better luck with inverts if I dose iodine. I use a cap full in my auto top off every other week.

Humm. After I fished what I thought was the corpse of my emerald crab out, I later found the critter hiding under a rock just barely peeking out. I know that the molt carcass can look a lot like the crab and even feel like it's the whole critter. Just do a check at night when they usually come out and see if you might be lucky. Is it the only one you have?

Chief

Man...sry. I really have no idea what might have caused it to die. Maybe it was a dual to the death with another?
