Nitrates on Reef no Fish ?
Just curious if you can prolong water changes with just live rock and corals, no fish. Looking to set up a frag tank.
Thanks, Moochie |

My corals actually are more affected when nitrates are off. If any of my levels are off I usually know it by how they look. Unless you have a lot of live rock in your frag tank you will need to do frequent water changes. Just my opinion.

you want to keep nitrates down to 0-5-10ppm(max)......nitrates and coral usually dont mix.....dont skimp on water changes.....otherwise you'll just blame it on some equipment you're using.....i.e canister filter....

Soft corals don't seem to be harmed by nitrate, in my experience, although the coloration might change.
I'd expect corals to benefit more from water changes than fish. I don't cut back just because there aren't any fish in one of my 29g tanks.
