Question about a starfish
I saw a Tile starfish at my LFS that I would love to have. I have mushroom corals & a bubble tip anemone. I was told it is reef safe and it wont get any bigger then 2 inches. Does anyone here know anything about this starfish.............Thanks

Need picture... I actually don't know of any reef-safe starfish that will live long in our tanks.

Agree with Bertoni. I have had sand sifting and Lickia starfish. The sand sifter is still alive, but the lickia died at about a year.
In research,I have found that anything that has bumps WILL not keep its arms off corals. Scott

Fromia monilis (tile sea star) in general has to be treated like a linkia. It is reef safe but requires lots of rock on a well established and stable (minimum of six months) aquarium of at least 100 gallons. They can not be fed so the need for well established system which develops a good amount of inperceptible film bacteria and algae for it to graze upon. They are extremely sensitive to changes in PH, temperature or salinity and require very long acclimation and should never be exposed to air. They grow from 2 to 5" dia max.
