water cloudy
well ive had my 29g tank up for about a month or so and i have 2 percula clown 1 lawmower blenny 1 cleaner shrimp 1 red emerald crab 4 red and blue leg hermits and about 5 or 6 turbo snails as well as about 20 lbs of live rock. im running a diy 10g sump with a coralife super 65 skimmer. the 10g sump is dived for a small fuge in the middle. i just tested my water about 5 mins ago and my ammo, nitrate, nitrite are all at 0. my ph is at 8.3 and my salinity is at 1.026. calcium level is at 400 alk is at 12dkh and phosphate is at about 2.0 i do weekly water changes and ive added a bag of chemi pure to the sump. the water is clear for the most part but the display tank has a slight white haze to it. you can see through the tank from one end to the other but you can tell it is cloudy. any advice on this subject would be much appreciated!!

 To Reef Central Did the white haze just start, or has it been around for a while? The problem might be a bacterial bloom.

Where to start.Your overstocked and low on LR.Whats used for flow and substrate?Whats the water source?

well due to financial constraints i will be adding another 20lbs of live rock probably this weekend. i have a mag5 pump in the sump and a powerhead on the opposite end of the aquarium. the blenny, snails, crabs, and hermits were added to battle a hair algae and red algae that was taking over my tank. my algae problem is all but gone. i have about a 75% sand 25% crushed coral substrate that is about 3" thick. the water source is RO from the lfs that tested 0 for phosphates (did test myself). the cloudiness is not that bad more just annoying.. its getting under my perfectionist skin lol.

The 20 lbs of live rock might help, although adding live rock is always a bit risky. The phosphate level makes me think overfeeding is an issue. I might do a series of 20-25% water changes and reconsider the amount of food going into the system.

well atm i have about 10 bux to me name. woot for the bush economy! i do believe i have been overfeeding a little. trying to guage the appetite of the percs has proven difficult. its hard not feeding them when every time i walk by the tank the hug the glass begging for me to feed them. i have already added 1 bag of chemi pure to the system and was probably going to add another this weekend when i get the live rock. i was thinking about a phosban reactor to help with phosphates and water clarity. im still fairly new at the sw hobby. ive had cichlids for years buy this isnt anything like that.
