How much to feed?

I have two clowns, two hermits, an arrow crab, a decorator crab, and a snail. I feed 3 times a day. I feed flake food and frozen plankton. I have noticed a slight rise in Nitrites and ammonia. I think I am just feeding to much. Should I feed less times a day? Any advice?

Oh boy! Less times a day??? Meaning you feed multiple times per day?

Go get some frozen mysis shrimp. Feed half a cube once every 3 days or 3 times per week. Yes, you are overfeeding.

Really? All the books I read and stuff said that it is good to feed multiple times a day because saltwater fish graze throughout the day.

I feed only once a day, sometimes I skip a day.

I feed only once a day as well.....
Mysis, plankton ( !NOT! phytoplankton) and brine, spirulina brine sometimes as well... A sliver of each cube and then rinse, rinse rinse.......

I have heard that dry flake food is crap.... but I dunno...I don't use it......

I have never fed daily on any of my tanks. I generally only feed 3 times per week.

Well, I tend to feed very small amounts of flake 2-3 times a day. I only small pinches till the fish are disinterested. I have not seen any ill water parameters. I do though feed my bta's and others every 2-3 days shrimp/fish mixes.

Well I guess I will just do less feedings and see if my params get better. Do you guys that feed a few times a week having healthy good looking fish? They arent like skinny or anything.
