Best skimmer for in sump 65 G?
Just wondering what the best skimmer is for the money to skim my 65 Gallon Reef. (85 total gallons). My current skimmer works for about a week at a time before I have to pull it out and clean it to get the bubbles to start going again. I think it is an Excaliber, but I am not sure, it is pretty old. The current is using a RIO 800 pump, if that helps you.
Other problem I am seeing is I am only emptying the cup about once a week as well....seems like not very much. However, I dont have high nitrates or any other bad readings.... thanks |

Should I just suck it up and pay for the Euro-reef?

Hey moose, I'm running a system with the exact same size as you are (65g reef with about 20-25 in the sump). I'm running an AquaC Urchin Pro and it's done a great job so far of pulling out the crud. AquaC says this skimmer is good for up to a 120g system, so I figure this is adequate for my (and maybe your) needs.
There are a few pics in my photoset of the gunk that it pulled out of the water, if you're interested in seeing them. http://www.flickr.com/photos/matgilb...7600034871969/ |

I have a RS-80, I got the extruded acrylic model and it was $178 from marinedepot....great skimmer. They dont sell those models anymore because it was a promo item, but the 2** something for the regular RS80 I think is worth it...IMO
