How to glue/peg LR together
Is there a particular way that gluing or pegging LR together that works better then the other. I am going to add more LR and i want to have my homework done on ways to keep stacked LR together and in place.

Its best to get the rockwork setup so that its stable before you secure. With the biggest pieces on the glass bottom. Use a hammer or chisle to shape. Then you can epoxy and or super glue with gel super glue or even drill a 1/2 hole and useing pvc tube to keep them together.

I currently have a deep sand bed and my LR sets on top on that. Is it better/necessary to have it set on the glass bottom. I have a good layer of crushed coral under the sand. Plus i would hate to have to move all of sand out of the way to get to the bottom. Check out my gallery to get a look at my tank.

Placing the larger pieces on the glass reduces chances of rock slide and glass breakage. Also the CC under the LS will only collect nitrate and be much harder to remove later.

Really the CC will collect nitrates? My LFS totally recommended a CC bottom. With my sand bed being about 4" deep I will end up losing a lot of LR to the sand if i put it on the glass.

Sorry but that is a LFS mistake we all do. They just want to make money. I think what will happen is the SB will work under the CC. Many SB CUC will have trouble with the CC also.

if your LFS doesnt havent it on hand, your can get it from drsfostersmith.com or marinedepot.com. i havent fixed rock together before, but i will be doing it soon & i plan on using the drill & pvc method.

i used acrylic rods from tap plastics. i used a masonry bit and drilled holes through the rock then stacked them to my liking. it worked beautifully.
