Unhappy Water is kinda cloudy

My system was a transfer from a 30 gal to a 90 gal in July 07. About 100 + pounds LR.

ALL parameters test well - PH 8.3 (hour after lights off), Alk/KA - 10, Cal - 410, Nitrates,Nitrites, Phos = 0, temp- 78 - 80.

Running a sump with sock, in-sump skimmer, Vortech pump for circulation (switched from three Koralia's) the wave action and even power is great. And a weekly small bag of carbon in sump.

Since the change it always seemed a little "gray" cloudy, people said give it time. Three weeks ago it was crystal, but it just went back to that cloudy look again. I do weekly 10 gal water change.

What can I try to clear it up?

Do you have a carbon bag in there. Also Chemi-Pure & Purigen bags work good

Yes. A small carbon bag I change out weekly. Should I try to increase the amount of carbon, and what brand would be best. The one I have now takes forever to rinse before I put it in the sump. If I don't rincse it well enough my spounge actually has a little black residue on it.

Can you put the carbon (if rinsed well) in the sock itself?

In a 90 gallon you should have at least a 5 x 8 bag full of carbon. Even bigger ............I dont realy think you can over due it. The water is just going to flow through it & clear it up
