Help With Quarantine Tank...

Hello:

I was wondering how long everyone quarantines their fish before they release it to their main tanks.

I need to stock my main tank and I have my quarantine ready, but I am wondering how long I should leave the fish there...

Regards,

Estefano

two to four weeks with no sign of ich or other disease

if ich develops bring down the salinity of the qt to 1.009 for 4 weeks

I would recommend QTing each fish for at least 4 weeks ... no exceptions.

QTing one or two fish cost little and is a minor inconvenience - if you don't QT on the front end and find a problem later your forced to place every fish in your show tank in a QT (quite a challenge for those with large show tanks) and then leave your show tank without fish for about 5 weeks. PIA is an understatement.

Four weeks minimum symptom free. Don't shortcut. I've had fish in qt for three weeks and decided ok time to move only to witness an infestation . Hang with qt for at least four weeks and create a cmfortable environment for the specimen(s) you are kepping in qt.
