Skimmer going nuts

I just blend some frozen and fresh seafood together and fed my tank. My skimmer is going crazy after I fed the tank. The bubbles it over filling the top and I have to turn off the skimmer. When I turn it back on, it does the same thing. What can I do to stop this? Anyone encounter this before?

A lot of people turn off their skimmers briefly when they feed their tanks...

Other things that can cause a skimmer to go nuts:
-Tap water dechlorinator
-Fluctuating water levels where skimmer is located
-Powering off for long periods of time

Is your skimmer HOB or in-sump? If it is in-sump, a filter sock will also help filter out the food particles before they hit the skimmer.

I would recommend shutting it down during feeding times. Thats just my opinion though.

do you utilize a filter sock on your intake to the sump?

Also, an hour may be too long to shut the skimmer off for... My AquaC was fine for about 30min... any longer than that it went crazy for about 10 minutes when I turned it back on.
