tank move temporary
I need to move a tank from the living room area to the kitchen while new carpeting gets installed. How much should I look to spend to have someone do this? The tank is a simple 92 gal bowfront with sump and assoc. plumbing.

I'm guessing about 2-300 for the remove, and hopefully the carpet is done in a few minutes? If so, then maybe about 100 for the replace. If not, then they would have to come back and I'm guessing it's almost like 2 full tank moves. $400 each.

Drain enough water/rock so that you and other people can safely move it, move it carefully/slowly. And if it is going to be more than an hour or so you need to get some sort of water flow to keep you animals alive if you didn't have to move them into a bucket. You might need to move them into a bucket if there is not enough water in the tank to cover your animals that are in the tank.

well I am not sure how long the carpet install will take, so you suggest siply moving it across the current carpet and then back into place?

I did the same thing.. it was only a few feet so I could move my 125 out of the way to finish a wall. I drained 1/2 the tank & removed the sump.
slid the tank... took 3 of us. I had a spare 65 gallon I could drain from the 125 & then after it was moved, I drained it back into the sump. some settling may occur ![]() I just left 1 powerhead low enough to keep water movement until I was able to fill it back up. -Joe

I had piano movers move my 75Gallon tank about 20 feet from my kitchen to laundry room so I could install a new 210 in its place. I drained about 2/3 of the water from the tank and sump into trash cans. They used straps and put the whole thing stand and all on to a dolly, wheeled it to the laundry room and slipped it off. I refilled the tank with the water from the trash cans. It took about 20 minutes. There were two movers and they charged me $150. Everything survived fine.

My best bet is to go Lfs and ask who can do.
