swapping tanks

OK I think if it is not too hard I want to switch to a another tank one drilled everyone seems to think drilled is better.

My question is I assume (maybe wrong) you drain water from one tank to another to use established water?
move rocks quicky from one tank to another
fish try to catch and swap Since using the same water could be right from one to the other.

The worry Ihave is sandbed I am aware it is not supposed to be disturbed. How is that possible?

If the sand bed is a couple years old. You should replace it.

How long has your existing tank been set up? If it hasn't been very long, you can probably move the sand bed just fine. If it has been set up longer than a few months, I would use new sand, and seed it with a cup or two of your old sand bed. Using your existing rock and a good portion of the water should be just fine.

I also concur with the above advice, recently within the past few months reuse the sand, if longer, just replace it.

If you're switching to the same size tank, I wouldn't even go through the trouble right now. Drilled isn't necessary and why put yourself through the hassle if you're just starting out. If it's the same size, I'd live with what I have or upgrade to using an overflow box if you're wanting to add a sump and save the move for an upgrade to a larger tank.

When I switched my over I did exactly the same thing.. But instead I took my sand put a couple cups in 2 nylon stockings and seeded with my old sand.. Took the rest of it and washed it. Never had a problem but only had 3 fish=)

in your case you would do exactly what you have posted
the sand bed will quickly re-seed in a matter of days
