When can I add a clownfish?

My 55g FOWLR is a 1 1/2 months old. I have 3 chromis and 44 lbs of live rock. I am going to be putting a sump in sometime in the next 2 weeks. The brown algea is gone. When can I add 2 clownfish to my tank?

You should be good to add the clownfish as long as you are testing 0 for ammonia and nitrates.

there is a post called (cycling and algea) a little ways down and the thread reads that the tank is 2 weeks old. there is a picture of the aquarium and it has a clownfish, royal gramma, and a chromis.

you will little support here for using fish to cycle a tank. It is not needed and there are other human ways like adding a piece of raw shrimp to it.

IMO add your cleanup crew over the next two weeks and then the clowns--let the nitrate level get down to zero

can you post the link of that thread

i believe that my tank has already cycled. I am not using the fish to cycle. here are my test
Ammonia-0
Nitrate-5
nitrite-0
calcium-420
Alk-10
PH-8.2
Salinity-1.024
Temp-78
It has been like this for a while now.
the extra 5 nitrate is probably from me over feeding the chromis.

okay--You obviously know what you are doing--go for it add the clowns----5ppm nitrates probably won't hurt them anyways

Puzzled why you originally posted when you seem on top of things

no way am I questioning you here but I find that laughable
the LFS on one hand has you put fish in early in the cycling process but tells you to wait on the clowns until the end of the month---but that doesn't suprise anyone here

clowns are one of the hardier fish, you think the LFS would say throw those in first, next to damsels lol
